Instant translation on IM

Instant messaging is great, unlike email if both parties are online at the time they can communicate in almost real time effect, but what about if the person that you are speaking to does not read or write in the same language as you, this could make things difficult is not impossible making it impractical as a business tool.

But what if there was a tool that automatically translated the text as you typed, would that be useful? You bet and Google have come up with this solution for Google Talk.

This may not be totally real time just at the moment, but it is certainly heading that way and as demand is taken up this will just get better and better until the time is reached when it can be totally real time.
