Google to restart penalty notifications
It always used to be the way that Google would email webmasters if they had any reason to believe that their site was not up to the standard or that they were in violation of the Google high command guidelines.
But a few months ago these were stopped because they were being copied and sent on to unsuspecting webmasters, who would click on the link and you know what happens next!
Now Google are about to resume the email notification system, but this time the message will be telling webmasters to log into their webmaster central account to view the reasons for penalties.
How would a webmaster know if an email is genuine or not? Well Google do not send out attachments, and all that a webmaster would need to do to confirm, is to visit their webmaster central account, where penalties if any can be viewed and acted upon.
