Woman beats off File Sharing lawsuit
It is a worrying trend when we see ordinary people being pursued through the courts by large organisations like the Recording industry Association of America (RIAA), but it is refreshing to see that in two cases these claims of alleged copyright infringement.
Not only was the case thrown out of court but the judge awarded Tanya Anderson £55,000 in legal fees too! This is virtually a double victory for the ordinary person in the street.
The case fell apart when if found when that the hard drive of her computer had no copyrighted songs onto, and considering that the RIAA originally claimed that her IP address had linked to thousands of shared songs.
The woman is planning a class action against the RIAA which could involve thousands of people who have found themselves in a similar position.
