Virgin Media writes to down loaders

Subscribers with Virgin Media who like to download the odd bit of illegal music, film or software better be watching out for a letter to drop on their door mats, for their ISP have teamed up with the BPI to close down on the illegal file sharers.

This comes from the government’s plans to make the ISP’s responsible for the actions of their subscribers. They expect the ISP’s to ensure that no illegal files are shared through their networks, if they are the offenders are expected to be expelled from the internet.

These plans are virtually unenforceable but Virgin Media are making all of the moves to show that they are taking this problem seriously, even if they are only calling this an educational programme.
