Why Linux is a good idea

Linux has been a rather shy operating system, with people knowing the name but not really knowing what it is. But all of that changed with the introduction of the Linux powered laptops like the ASUS EEE PC and Dells decision to introduce it into their range of computers. But what is it and why would it be good for you?

What it is an open source operating system, but you would probably never know because it comes with a set of tools or applications, which will make the user experience very similar to whatever operating system that you have been used to.

There are number of reasons for using Linux, first is that it is free and that you are free, there are no tie ins and licences that mean you cannot share it, in fact you are almost encourage to share it and no the software pirate police will not be knocking on your door. Finally it’s secure which is what all users want.
