Google bombing in use

This practice also known as link bombing is how someone who has a grudge or is just being a bit mischievous and likes to have a bit of fun at some one else’s expense, this can have a detrimental effect on how the chosen site can perform or redirect traffic from a particular page or phase to completely different site altogether.

This been done with the Church of Scientology who received a search engine placing for the term “Dangerous Cult” and for the search term “Miserable Failure” when entered into Yahoo search would bring back a result of links to the biography of the President of the United States, George Bush on the White House website.

This is done by using the Google page rank system amongst others, the bomb a site you will need to generate enough links to your target site all using the same search term or phrase, as more and more links get added the search term will rise in the listings and if it is a term that is not used much it will quickly rise to the top of the listings.
